Products at Lalitha Jewellery, Nagercoil

Lalitha sells gold, diamond, silver and platinum jewellery and gold and silver coins, with ranges for men, children and teenagers. It offers personalised engraving and customises designs.

Lalitha Jewellery 916 hallmark and purity

Lalitha says all its gold jewellery is BIS 916 hallmarked, which is 22 carat. Kanyakumari district has been under mandatory BIS hallmarking since 2021. Check the six-character HUID on the piece in the BIS Care app before you pay and set the purity it returns against the rate you are being quoted.

Its catalogue lists most diamond jewellery in 18K gold and some in 14K. Ask which rate the gold in a diamond piece is priced at. It says its diamonds are VVS clarity and E–F colour and come with authenticity certificates from gemmology bodies. Ask for the certificate with the piece.

Lalitha Jewellery online shopping and catalogue

Its website, lalithaajewellery.com, is a catalogue. It lists each design's gross, net and stone weights and its purity, with no price, and no piece can be bought on it. You buy at the showroom or send an enquiry through the site. Multiply a design's net weight by today's rate for its gold value before you go, then estimate the bill with your own V.A.

Lalitha Jewellery making charges and V.A.

On gold jewellery, Lalitha charges V.A. (value addition) on top of the gold, and the percentage differs from piece to piece. Its pre-booking brochure mentions gold jewellery with V.A. of 5% or less and pieces that carry 16% or 20%. Its diamond jewellery carries making charges as well, and it advertises no wastage charge on select collections. Ask for the V.A. on the piece you choose as a percentage of its gold value, and whether any other making or wastage charge is added, since a V.A. line can stand for the wastage alone or for the making and the wastage together.

What Lalitha's V.A. adds to a pavan

Illustration: one pavan (8 g) of plain 22K jewellery, no stones, at Lalitha's 22K rate for Tamil Nadu on 25 September 2026. 5% and 16% are V.A. levels Lalitha's brochure names; the third column is a plan purchase with V.A. waived. Not a quote for any piece.
V.A. 5%V.A. 16%V.A. waived
Gold, 8 g × ₹14,010₹1,12,080₹1,12,080₹1,12,080
V.A.₹5,604₹17,933Waived
GST, 3%₹3,531₹3,900₹3,362
Bill₹1,21,215₹1,33,913₹1,15,442
Bill per gram of gold₹15,152₹16,739₹14,430

Each point of V.A. is ₹1,121 on a pavan at this rate, before GST. Lalitha's 22K rate on 25 September is the same as the Nagercoil gold rate, so for a like piece a lower Lalitha bill comes from its V.A. or its stone prices, not from the gold. The last row is the test Lalitha's own FAQ suggests: divide what you pay by the grams of gold you get, and compare a few showrooms. It is fair only between pieces of the same purity with the stones taken out, and it says nothing about how the V.A. itself was worked out. No rule fixes V.A., so the test is worth running at more than one of the Nagercoil jewellery showrooms.

For a piece you like, ask for the estimate with the net weight, the rate, the V.A. and any stones on separate lines. The 3% GST is charged on the gold, the V.A. and the stones together, so a lower V.A. lowers the tax with it.

Lalitha Jewellery gold scheme

Lalitha runs two jewellery purchase plans, Flexi 100 and Jewellery Pre-Booking. Each payment is credited as grams of 22K gold at the rate on the day it is paid, and a completed plan buys gold jewellery without V.A. Neither pays interest, and neither can be taken back as cash. A balance left over buys gold or silver coins.

PlanYou payV.A. waived on gold jewelleryRedeem
Flexi 100 11 monthly instalments of a fixed amount from ₹1,000 to ₹2,00,000 All of it after the 11th instalment; 60% if you stop in the 7th or 8th month, 70% in the 9th or 10th; none before the 7th After 330 days, within 360 days of joining
Jewellery Pre-Booking One advance, from ₹10,000 V.A. of up to 5% after 150 days, rising a point a month to 10% after 300 days; all of it after 330 days After 150 days, within 360 days of joining

Flexi 100 lets you count your saving at the end as grams of gold or as rupees. The waiver covers only the plan's own weight or amount. A ₹1,00,000 piece bought with a ₹55,000 Flexi 100 saving carries full V.A. on the other ₹45,000. After 330 days, Jewellery Pre-Booking also takes 50% off the V.A. and ₹1,000 a carat off diamond jewellery.

Stone-set jewellery and special pieces such as oddiyanam, nagaz, kumkumchimizh and thirumangalyam carry extra charges, and you pay GST when you buy. You can pay into a plan at the showroom, online at lalithaaschemes.com or in its app (Android, iPhone).

Before you join a Lalitha Jewellery gold scheme

  • "Can I redeem at another showroom, and by when?" Its brochures say any Lalitha showroom in India, within 360 days of joining. The terms on its scheme website say only the showroom and state you joined in, within 365 days. Ask which applies, and have it written on your receipt.
  • "What will my piece's V.A. be?" Under Jewellery Pre-Booking, V.A. above that month's limit is yours to pay, and under either plan full V.A. applies to anything bought beyond the plan's value.
  • "Which pieces carry extra charges, and how much?" Ask for the figure before you choose a stone-set or special piece.
  • "What if I miss a month?" Flexi 100 instalments must be paid within each calendar month and cannot be paid ahead, and a break can end the plan.
  • "Grams or rupees?" At the end of Flexi 100, grams are worth more if the rate has risen since you paid, and rupees if it has fallen.

Lalitha Jewellery returns, exchange and old gold

Lalitha takes old jewellery towards its Jewellery Pre-Booking plan. You get new jewellery of the same weight, less 0.5% for melting and purifying, and Lalitha values your old jewellery on BIS 916 hallmark standards. On a pavan of old gold, 0.5% is 0.04 g, ₹560 at Lalitha's 22K rate.

It does not say how a piece that tests below 916, or one set with stones, is valued. Ask before you hand it over, and work out what your old gold is worth first.

For diamonds, Lalitha's buyback is 85% against cash and 100% against exchange for new diamond jewellery. Ask what the percentage is taken of.

Lalitha publishes no return policy and no buying rate for old gold outside the plan. Ask for the return and exchange terms on the bill.
